Lipofer® is a micronized and microencapsulated form of iron. Iron is first micronized to small particles and then coated in a layer that facilitates transfer through lipid bilayers in the body. Due to this special patented technology, Lipofer® is 3.5 times more bioavailable than iron pyrophosphate, 2.7 times more than ferrous sulfate, and 4.7 times more than ferrous fumarate. It is also better at preventing unwanted side effects and masking metallic taste. It is manufactured in the EU by Lubrizol Life Science (SPA) and meets both PN-EN 7218: 2008 / A1: 2013–10 and Pharmacopoeia standards.
Vitamin B6 in its active form in the body is known as pyridoxal-5-phosphate or P5P. It is a nutrient that participates in at least 100 essential biochemical processes in the body, including iron metabolism. P5P is a cofactor in the synthesis of aminolevulinate, which represents the first step in heme (iron-containing part of hemoglobin) biosynthesis. A deficiency of vitamin B6 can cause a deficiency of hemoglobin, leading to microcytic anemia.
Vitamin B12 plays an integral part as a cofactor in production of red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body. B12 deficiency can result in megaloblastic anemia due to inadequate dietary intake or impaired absorption of the vitamin from the small intestine. Untreated deficiency can cause neuro-cognitive dysfunction and blood disorders, therefore vitamin B12 supplementation is recommended.
